How to: View Commits, Branches & Merge Requests on an Issue
A quick walkthrough for finding development activity on a Jira issue.
Step 1: Reference the Issue Key
When committing code, include the Jira issue key in the commit message, branch name, or pull/merge request title:
git commit -m "PROJ-123 Add validation for empty input"
Step 2: Wait for Sync
GitConnect for Jira syncs connected repositories on a regular schedule, and immediately for repositories with indexing triggers (webhooks) configured. If you need activity to show up right away, a user with the Manage Integrations permission can trigger a manual Reindex from Manage Integrations - see Managing Connected Repositories.
Step 3: Open the Issue
- Open the Jira issue referenced in your commit, branch, or pull/merge request
- Look for the Issue Activity panel (right-hand side of the issue) for branches, pull/merge requests, builds, deployments, and tags
- Open the Git Commits tab for the full commit feed with diffs, or the Git Roll Up tab for a per-developer summary
If nothing appears, see Common Setup Issues.
