Admin Settings

Configuration Options

Access Settings from any module's sidebar (bottom of sidebar). Settings is organized into three groups: Configuration, Staff, and Data Access.

Timezone & defaultsDefault Time RangePre-selected date range when opening a view
Booking & FieldsWorking DaysOnly shown if no Workload Scheme is configured; used in capacity calculations
Period Configuration"Week starts on" (replaces the old "First Day of Week" label)Week grouping, tied into approval period cycles
Time Categories (Time module)Category listClassification for worklogs
Worklog Fields (Time module)Custom field listExtra metadata captured when logging time

There is no single global "Hours Per Day" control anymore - and no "Enable Rough Planning" toggle in this group. Per-person daily capacity comes from Workload Schemes under Settings → Staff.

Timezone Mode guidance:

  • Use Jira timezone for teams in the same location
  • Use User's timezone for distributed teams so each person's entries reflect their local time

Worklog Fields

Custom fields that appear in the Log Time form for capturing additional context.

Creating a Worklog Field:

  1. Settings → Worklog Fields → Add Field
  2. Configure:
    • Field Name - label shown in the Log Time form
    • Field Type - Text, Number, Single-Select, Multi-Select, or Checkbox
    • Required - Yes/No (must-fill before saving a worklog)
    • Options (for Select types) - define option values

Field Types:

TypeDescriptionExample Use
TextSingle-line text inputClient PO number, activity description
NumberNumeric input onlyTicket/reference number
Single-SelectPick one option from a defined listActivity type (Development, Testing, Meeting)
Multi-SelectPick multiple options from a defined listMultiple applicable tags
CheckboxTrue/False toggleBillable / Non-billable flag

Tips:

  • Limit to 3–5 fields - too many fields slow down the logging experience
  • Use Select types for structured data; use Text for free-form reference codes

Time Categories

Classify worklogs by work type; appear as a dropdown in the Log Time form.

Creating a Time Category:

  1. Settings → Time Categories → Add Category
  2. Enter Category Name and optional Description → Save

Recommended Categories:

CategoryUse Case
DevelopmentFeature work, bug fixes, coding
Code ReviewPR reviews, pair reviews
MeetingsStand-ups, retrospectives, planning
QA TestingTest execution, test case writing
DocumentationWriting docs, wikis, runbooks
SupportCustomer support tickets, incidents
ResearchSpike work, investigation

Using in Reports:

  • Filter by Time Category in Reports
  • Pie chart, when sliced by Time Category, shows the split across work types

Portfolio Settings

Access from global Settings → Portfolio tab, or from inside a portfolio → Settings gear. Tabs: General, Teams, Users.

Currently only Hours per day is a live, editable control on the General tab. Bookings start/end date field mapping and Working Days checkboxes exist in the underlying settings but their input controls aren't currently rendered in the UI - don't expect to be able to map Gantt date fields from this screen yet.
