Migration and Runbook Steps

The Situation

A cloud migration, data cutover, or change window has an ordered list of steps. The plan is written in a sheet and shared with stakeholders.

The Approach

1. Create the migration epic or change request.
2. Keep the runbook in a sheet with Summary, Assignee, Due Date, and Labels for the phase.
3. Import it under the parent issue.
4. Use labels such as pre-cutover, cutover, and post-cutover to group steps.

Result

Each step has an owner and a time. The audit log shows who loaded the plan and when, which helps with change review.

Tips

• Import each phase as its own run if the plan changes between phases.
• Keep the source sheet with the change record.
