Installation & Setup
Prerequisites
Before installing, confirm:
- You are a Jira Cloud site administrator (required to install Marketplace apps)
- Your Jira instance is Jira Cloud - this app does not support Server or Data Center
- You have access to the Atlassian Marketplace from your Jira instance
Installation Steps
- Go to marketplace.atlassian.com and search for "Dashboard Templates Charts Graphs Reports Clovity"
- On the app listing, confirm Hosting → Cloud is supported
- Click Try it free (30-day trial) or Buy now
- Select your Atlassian Cloud site when prompted
- Choose Jira as the product
- Review the permissions the app requires and click Accept to proceed
- The app installs automatically - no restart required
What Gets Installed
Installing the app adds:
- Nineteen dashboard gadgets to the Jira gadget gallery, usable on any dashboard you can edit
- One admin page under Apps, visible only to Jira administrators
Nothing is added to your projects, workflows, or issue screens. The app creates no Jira issues, fields, or custom fields, and it does not change any existing Jira configuration.
Verify Installation
After installation:
- Open any Jira Dashboard (or create a new one)
- Click Add gadget (pencil/edit mode)
- Search for the gadget you want by name - for example "Custom Charts", "Issue List", "Sprint Burndown", or "Team Wallboard"
- All nineteen gadgets from the app appear in the gadget gallery
First Admin Steps
Once installed, complete these setup tasks before rolling out to your team:
| Step | Where | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Open Admin Settings | Apps → Dashboard Templates, Charts, Graphs & Reports → Admin | Review global defaults for export, number format, date format |
| 2. Configure export access | Admin → Customization Options | Enable or disable PNG/PDF/CSV export for all users |
| 3. Set data source rules | Admin → Data Sources | Control which data sources users can pick - Projects, Board, Saved filters, Custom JQL, Filter controller, plus the Time in Status and Portfolio sources |
| 4. Enable/disable features | Admin → Features | Toggle any of the nineteen gadgets on or off individually, plus Templates |
| 5. Create a test dashboard | Jira → Dashboards → Create | Add two or three gadgets and confirm they load data end to end |
Jira Permissions Required for Installation
The app requests the following permissions during Marketplace install:
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| read:jira-work | Read issues, fields, and issue history for charts, tables, and flow metrics |
| write:jira-work | Save gadget configurations |
| read:jira-user | Display user information (assignees, reporters) in Issue List and wallboard cards |
| read:project:jira | Read project metadata, versions, and releases for project- and release-scoped reports |
| read:jql:jira | Validate and run the JQL entered in gadget configuration |
| read:servicedesk-request | Include Jira Service Management requests in reports |
| read:board-scope:jira-software | Read a board's filter so board-scoped gadgets know which issues belong to it |
| read:board-scope.admin:jira-software | Read a board's column layout and column-to-status mapping |
| read:sprint:jira-software | Read sprint names and dates for sprint-scoped reports and burndown charts |
| storage:app | Store gadget configurations in Forge KVS |
Every request runs as the signed-in user, so a gadget can only ever show data that user is already allowed to see in Jira. See Permissions & Access for how this works in practice.
